VISE-GRIP HAN1228 MACHINE SCREW TAP 10/24 NC
The Irwin Machine Screw Tap is designed to cut thread in the bottom of hex-head screws. It will tap a hole in about 1/8" of material per pass.
Select the right tap to be used for bottoming interrupted threads. Right hand, spiral cut, standard full screw potential. Steel shank with a black oxide finish to minimize surface corrosion and provide a high quality cosmetic appearance. Helical entry of each tapered cutting segment provides a sharp thread form and allows an increased number of thread segments exposed to the cutting fluid. Thin jacket allows closer fitting over tapped holes where assembly space is limited.
Vise-Grip Irwin Machine Screw Taps are designed specifically for tapping screw holes in small metal parts. They are produced from an alloy steel and hardened to assure a long life under hard usage. The fluted cutting edges provide positive start, precise dimensions and maximum service life.
During the machining process, if the part requires tapping, this special tap is used. The tap swages threads into a previously drilled hole to make a threaded hole. A bottom tap drills the hole and then tips in a second operation from the bottom up. Applications include tapping holes for screws, studs, wood screws, cap screws and machine screws.
A heavy duty, extra short spiral point, helical spiral screw thread tap excellent for tapping non-tapped, heat treated steel and alloy screws and bolts. A split point design on the tap reduces breakage and permits easy starting without damage. Machined from high-quality alloy steel of proper hardness to ensure high impact values.
The Irwin Machine Screw Tap is ideal for wood threading applications. It features a slotted screw, cutting fluid hole for easier operation. Its hardened steel construction makes it rust-resistant.
