The thicker die walls provide added durability for long life in either a press or hand tightening applications. Our 18 mm - 2.5 Metric Hexagon Dies are constructed of high carbon steel that is heat treated and chrome plated to resist rust and corrosion. The contoured jaw design allows maximum clamping force to be applied to the part being clamped, assuring a proper joint between the two parts.

Vise-Grip HAN6961 Die Sets are designed to be use with HV series vise-grips. The atual tool shank for a Vise Grip tool is a half hardened round steel rod which extends through the set screw threads on the Die Body. The Set Screw is actually just that, a screw to clamp down on the rod from the side. There is one flat side and one slightly rounded side (not shown) on the rod which makes a better fit in the Die Socket, which is also Round and is tapered so that it will hold it all together.

Our forged hardened stock is stronger, lighter and longer lasting than other HCS dies. Its optimized nose radius gives smoother thread breakage when turning down threaded inserts and longer threads on fastening operations. The 18mm hexagon die works with the VISE-GRIP Master in place to hold hexagonal cutters or taps that require a round shank adapter (sold separately). Grooves are designed to allow you to adjust material while maintaining the benefit of a fixed die. Coarse thread lines have a larger starting point for easy feeding into the cutter.
